Dutch song Benny Neyman - Waarom fluister ik je naam nog
with lyrics, music, video and English translation songtext

picture garland guirlande symbol of dutch songs translated English translation

Forget you
How could I possibly forget you
The years went by, glided so quickly
And vanished in the time for good

Vergeten
Hoe zou ik jou kunnen vergeten
De jaren zijn voorbij gegleden
Voorgoed verdwenen in de tijd

And dreaming
I think I never will stop dreaming
The hopes I had, you took them from me
And now it's only history
Hmmmm

En dromen
Ik zal wel altijd blijven dromen
Je hebt me alle hoop ontnomen
Het is gewoon verleden tijd
Hmmmm

Why do I still whisper your name now
Do I hear your voice
I still can see your life-size presence
I can't forget the smallest thing

Maar waarom fluister ik jouw naam nog
Hoor ik steeds je stem
Ik zie je levensgroot hier staan nog
Omdat ik niets vergeten ben

picture garland guirlande symbol of dutch songs translated English translation

Why can I still smell your fragrance
As if you're around
What happened in those days, I'm wondering
I wish that we had never met

Waarom ruik ik steeds jouw geur nog
Of je bij me bent
Wat is er toen met mij gebeurd toch
Ach, had ik jou maar nooit gekend

picture garland guirlande symbol of dutch songs translated English translation

As usual
My daily life goes on as usual
But now and then I feel this longing
Longing for you just for a while

Mijn leven
Het gaat gewoon zijn gang, mijn leven
Maar soms verlang ik toch heel even
Verlang ik even weer naar jou

picture garland guirlande symbol of dutch songs translated English translation

My courage
Yes, long ago I lost my courage
But in advance we could have known that
It wouldn't last our whole life long
Hmmmm

Verloren
Ik heb de moed allang verloren
We wisten beiden van tevoren
Dat dit niet eeuwig duren zou
Hmmmm

Benny Neyman (1951-2008), was a singer from Maastricht (in the province of Limburg). He studied at the Academy of Theatre and Dance in Amsterdam.

In 1980 he had his first hit, with the song 'I don't know how'/'Ik weet niet hoe' (1980), a translation of the Italian song 'Agapimu'. This was followed by the hit 'Bachelor'/'Vrijgezel' (1981).

His biggest hit and only number one hit in the National Hit Parade Top 40, was above song 'Why do I still whisper your name'/'Waarom fluister ik je naam nog' (1985). This song is a translation of the Greek song 'An anixis tin cardia mou'. It's still voted in the Top 2000 every year (traditionally broadcasted on the radio during the last week of the year).
