Corry en de Rekels ('Corry and the naughty boys', 1969-1973) was a Dutch pop band with singer Corry Konings (1951) and regular band members like Jacques Wagtmans, André de Jong and Jos van Zundert. Corry Konings is especially known as singer of 'life songs' ('levensliederen'): songs about the common people and the problems, misery and hardship of daily life.
They were introduced to singer Pierre Kartner and he wrote the above song 'It's too late for you to cry'/'Huilen is voor jou te laat' (1970) for them. It became a big hit: for no less than 42 weeks in a row it was listed in the National Hit Parade Top 40 (highest place: number 5). This record of 42 weeks was not broken for 43 years (when it was surpassed by Pharrell Williams' 'Happy' in 2014: 49 weeks).
The song has been voted into the Top 2000 (traditionally broadcasted on the radio the last week of the year) ten times.

When Corry Konings left the group to start her own career, she was replaced by Hanny. Corry Konings had several hits, like 'I get an unusual feeling'/'Ik krijg een heel apart gevoel' (1976); 'That always is your own sweet mom'/'Dat is toch je moedertje' (1977); 'I forgot you name completely'/'Hoe je heette ben ik vergeten' (1978); 'Adios amor' (1982) en 'Those lovely old days'/'Mooi was die tijd' (1990).
After working as a singer for 35 years, Corry and the members of the Rekels had a reunion. They released a new album: 'After 35 years'/'Na 35 jaar' (2004).
Songwriter Pierre Kartner (1935), better known as Vader Abraham, is internationally famous for his song 'The Red Rose Café'/'Het kleine café aan de haven' (1976). Other songs are e.g. 'Summertime'/'Zomertijd' (1975); 'Oh Mario' (1977); and 'The song of the smurfs'/'Het smurfenlied' (1977).
