Dutch song Kenny B - Parijs
with lyrics, music, video and English translation songtext
I'm in Paris, it is cold
A normal morning
I see the most pretty French woman
On high heels, quite a lot heels, and I
Don't know what to say to her
I say: "Bonjour, mon amour
Miss, you are very beautiful"
And eh, and she said:
Frisse morgen in Parijs
Gewoon mijn business
Ik zie de meest mooie Française
Op een boel hoge hakken en ik
Weet niet wat ik zeggen moet
Ik zeg: "Bonjour, mon amour
Mademoiselle, tu es très belle"
En eh, en zij zei:
"I'm a Dutch woman"
O-o-oh
"I only speak a littlebit French"
And I said:
Je suis Néerlandaise
O-o-oh
Je parle un petit peu Français
En ik zei:
"Speak to me in Dutch, please
Just a moment in Dutch, please
I've the feeling you and I
Together look this evening
At the Champs-Élysées
And at the Notre-Dame, the river Seine
And then together on the Tour Eiffel"
Praat Nederlands met me
Even Nederlands met me
Mijn gevoel zegt mij
Dat wij vanavond samen kijken
Naar de Champs-Élysées
En naar de Notre-Dame en naar de Seine
En daarna samen op la tour Eiffel
Mmm, mmm
Ah
Mmm, mmm
Ah
And I felt we had a click there
She had a smile so shy and timid
Couldn't believe it really happened
That she could be mine
She was a mix of Doutzen, Edsilia and Anouk
O-o-oh
Something happened with me right
When she said:
En ik voelde dat het goed zat
Ik zag haar zo verlegen lachen
Kan niet geloven dat het echt was
Zij de mijne zijn
Ze leek een mix van Doutzen, Edsilia en Anouk
O-o-oh
Er gebeurde iets met mij
Toen zij zei:
"I'm a Dutch woman"
O-o-oh
"I only speak a littlebit French"
And I said:
Je suis Néerlandaise
O-o-oh
Je parle un petit peu Français
En ik zei:
"Speak to me in Dutch, please
Just a moment in Dutch, please
I've the feeling you and I
Together look this evening
At the Champs-Élysées
And at the Notre-Dame, the river Seine
And then together on the Tour Eiffel"
Praat Nederlands met me
Even Nederlands met me
Mijn gevoel zegt mij
Dat wij vanavond samen kijken
Naar de Champs-Élysées
En naar de Notre-Dame en naar de Seine
En daarna samen op la tour Eiffel
O-o-o-o-o-oh
A-a-a-a-a-ah
Eh, o-o-oh, m-m-m, yeah
O-o-o-o-o-oh
A-a-a-a-a-ah
Eh, o-o-oh, m-m-m, yeah
To finish a sentence in French:
En dan nog een woordje in Frans:
I love you
I love you
I love you
Je t'aime
Je t'aime
Je t'aime
I love you
I love you
I love you
Je t'aime
Je t'aime
Je t'aime
"Speak to me in Dutch, please
Just a moment in Dutch, please
I've the feeling you and I
Together look this evening
At the Champs-Élysées
And at the Notre-Dame, the river Seine
And then we'll land together at Schiphol"
Praat Nederlands met me
Even Nederlands met me
Mijn gevoel zegt mij
Dat wij vanavond samen kijken
Naar de Champs-Élysées
En naar de Notre-Dame en naar de Seine
En daarna samen landen op Schiphol
A-a-ah, yeah
O-o-o-o-o-oh
A-a-a-a-a-ah
Oe-oe-oe-oeh
A-a-ah, yeah
O-o-o-o-o-oh
A-a-a-a-a-ah
Oe-oe-oe-oeh

Kenny B (1961), stage name of Kenneth Bron, is a Surinamese-Dutch singer-songwriter. He was born in Paramaribo and worked for the army as peace negotiator.
In 1991 he moved to the Netherlands and started a career as a singer. However, he sang only in Surinamese and English and had dozens of hits in Suriname, like the number one hit 'You there'/'A sama de' (2008).
His music styles are reggae and dancehall (or raggamuffin). In 2015 Kenny B released his first single in Dutch, 'When you leave'/'Als je gaat'. In the same year followed his breakthrough in the Netherlands, with the hit 'Paris'/'Parijs'.

The above song 'Paris'/'Parijs' (2015) had a number one position in the National Hit Pararade Top 40 for 7 weeks. It was streamed about 30 million times on YouTube and about just as often on Spotify. In 2016 Kenny B won a 100%NL Award and an Edison Award for this song. The song is voted into the Top 2000 (traditionally broadcasted on the radio the last week of the year) since 2015.
The women's names in the song refer to well-known (and pretty) Dutch women. Doutzen Kroes is an international top model, Edsilia Rombley and Anouk Teeuwe are singers. The airport Schiphol is the biggest airport of the Netherlands, near Amsterdam.
This song is a bilingual song: Dutch is combined with French. The most famous example is the English-French 'Michelle' by The Beatles ('ma belle, these are words...', 1965). Other bilingual songs on this website include e.g. Dutch-English and Dutch-Surinamese.
