Lange Frans ('Long Frans', 1980), stage name of Frans Frederiks, is a Dutch rapper.
Together with rapper Baas B (Bart Zeilstra) he scored two number 1 hits in the Top 40: 'Senseless'/'Zinloos' (2004), about fatal victims of senseless violence; and 'The country of'/'Het land van' (2005), about several characteristics of the Netherlands. In 2009 the duo broke up.
The above song 'Sing for me'/'Zing voor me' (2010) was written by Long Frans/Lange Frans. The song is about people who are disappointed about the course of their lives, but find comfort in a song. The song was in the National Hit Parade Top 40 for 12 weeks (highest position 5) and is voted into the Top 2000 (traditionally broadcasted on the radio the last week of the year) since 2014.

Lange Frans wanted a sad, hoarse voice for the refrain and asked singer Thé Lau.
Thé Lau (1952-2015), short for Matheus Lau, was the founder and front singer of the band The Scene (1979-2014). Well-known songs of the band are 'Blue'/'Blauw' (1991); and 'Everyone belongs to the world and the world belongs to everyone'/'Iedereen is van de wereld' (1991).
In 2003 a collection of all his lyrics was published. Thé Lau also wrote fiction. Only three months before he passed away (only 62 years old), he was awarded with an Edison Music Oeuvre Award (2015).
