Dutch song Willeke Alberti - Spiegelbeeld
with lyrics, music, video and English translation songtext
Mirror image, please do tell me, is my age the same as yours
Is it true, am I twenty, are my teens for ever gone
I'm still young, but I'm no longer as young as I have been
I would like to return to the classroom once more
Mirror image, I can hate you, not one day you will give back
Why do fly all those years when you're still young so real fast
I'm still young, but already I've so many memories
Mirror image, I will never forget anything
Mirror image, my first boyfriend was a boy as old as me
And he gave me my first kiss, it was a lovely moment then
I'm still young, but I wished that I could do that once again
Quick quick slow, my first dance lesson, how timid I was
All I have are some pictures and they all tell me again
It has passed, so my first ball dress, I won't wear again

Willeke Alberti (1945) is a Dutch actress and singer. She is the daughter of the famous Amsterdam singer of 'life songs' ('levensliederen') Willy Alberti (1926-1985). She sang several duets with her father (like 'No one wants to leave his child alone'), but mainly had a career of her own.
In 1963 she scored a big hit with above song 'Mirror image'/'Spiegelbeeld'. This was a translation from the French song 'Tes tendres années (Johnny Hallyday) by Gerrit den Braber. The song was in the National Hit Parade Top 10 for eleven weeks (highest position: 2). It has been voted into the Top 2000 (traditionally broadcasted on the radio the last week of the year) eleven times.
In 1970 she played the leading role in the television series The little truth/De kleine waarheid and in 1975 she played the title character in the movie Red Sien/Rooie Sien. This last role brought her again a hit, 'Again and again'/'Telkens weer' (1975). Another hit, ten years later, was 'Being close'/'Samen zijn' (1987). She played in over ten films and released over 15 albums.
